2Live

by Daniel Vaysberg

Growing up in the streets of Kharkiv, especially in my area of Saltivka, or “the 607”, perspectives were limited. When you’re a young guy you were either wondering where to get the next beer or when to grab some cheap drugs from the pharmacy. Getting older you work one kind of job, retire, and sit on a park bench. That was not what I wanted for my own life.

Daniel Vaysberg was born in Kharkiv in 1996, moved to Düsseldorf when he was 15 and to Berlin in 2019. Many of his family members lived in Ukraine until recently. Since 2017, Daniel has been working as a self-taught photographer. He has already had various commissions from fashion labels and magazines. His artistic focus lies on scenes in the outskirts of big cities, the environments in which he grew up.

Synchron x represents a new project series launched parallel to Synchron Magazine by the independent publishing house Dyer Press, founded and run by Lea Klöpel and Johannes Farfsing. The photo book with Daniel Vaysberg is the first publication in this series.

2Live is a limited edition of 111 handsigned copies.

About

Synchron and it's publishing house Dyer Press started out as 'printing a zine' with friends, emerging, unknown, self-taught and mid-career artists whose work we appreciate.

Emphasize syncretism, baby.

Founded in *2020 by two humble sinners, Shima (Japan + literature Studies) & Johannes Farfsing (Fine Arts), Synchron is an entirely independent project.

Aesthetic trends, institutions, art markets, algorythms, conventions, morals or distributors do not corrupt our vision.

“I want people to think about what they believe and why. I want people to feel contempt, lust, confusion, acceptance, and eventually sink into an immaterial grace.”

Angus Scratch Green, 2024 in the dazed interview about THIS IS MY LIFESTYLE

Made in Berlin, Synchron is a magazine about fiction and contemporary art. The work in here can be monstrous: ceramics are embedded with animal teeth, and the fiction is gory; in one great piece, an actress is bitten to death in her bed by a snake. There is also lots of bubble writing that has been designed to look like it was made out of human skin.

by Kitty Drake, February 2021

[Synchron] stands out as one of the strangest and most striking magazine launches I’ve seen for a long time. It’s dedicated to exploring contemporary visual art and fiction, but it does so in a way that is brilliantly inventive and entirely its own.
